Volunteer & Donate

As a small community, we rely on everyone connected to our town to play a part in helping to keep our community safe, welcoming and beautiful.

  • If you are using town roads, please obey the speed limits and road restrictions, and don’t throw your trash in our yards.

  • If there are storms, please check on your neighbors to make sure they are safe.  Report downed trees or other hazards to our Road Commissioner, Joey Clark.  When roads are posted for hazards, please DO NOT remove signs or cones that have been put out.  You are endangering others!

  • If you have time, please volunteer! (LINK TO VOLUNTEER)

  • If you don’t have time, please consider a donation to the town funds noted below.

  • If you don’t have time or extra money, make a commitment to meet more of your neighbors!  Getting to know one another is one of the best ways to help Sorrento!

Town Wish List:

There are always things we could use (but that didn’t fit into the budget).  Here is a list of items that we have identified as “wish we had”…check back frequently as it will be updated on a regular basis.

  • Wouldn't it be great to have town movie nights?  And have a screen for showing the documents being discussed at meetings?  We could really use a large screen and projector for the Community Building.  For more information contact Rob Wilpan rob.wilpan@sorrentomaine.org

Recently Donated Items:

  • Truckload of soil for our town Pollinator Meadow Project

  • A laptop for use during Town Meetings and other town functions.

Donations to any of the following Funds can be made payable to Town of Sorrento and mailed to:

 79 Pomola Avenue

Sorrento, ME 04677

Please note the fund you would like to direct your contribution to in the check memo.

Sorrento Fire Department Fund: (Insert FD Donation letter - Joey is to send)

Legal Fees Fund

Help us build a war chest!  As you all know, legal fees can add up fast.  In this litigious time, when the threat of lawsuits can come from your own neighbors or other individuals seeking personal gain, we need to protect what we all hold so dear - our town.  The best way to do that is to be prepared, and one way to be prepared is to have funds readily available, should the need arise.  Donations can be sent to the Town of Sorrento.  Please write “Legal Fees Fund” in the memo.

Sorrento Community Building Improvements Fund

Many renovations are needed for our beloved Community Building!  Help us get the following projects done:

  • Insulate the attic and basement to reduce our heat loss!

  • Replace our “hanging by a thread” boiler which uses #2 oil

  • Remove the asbestos flooring in the back meeting room.  We want to update this space so that it can be used when the large Community Building space is not needed.  It will be less expensive to heat this smaller space for winter meetings and activities.

  • Remodel the kitchen space with new flooring and new (non-orange) counter.

Sorrento Pollinator Meadow  (link to page in Rec & Facilities)

Help us fill the meadow with flowers!  Checks can be made payable to “Town Of Sorrento”.  Please write “Pollinator Meadow” in the memo section.
